Puppies will receive their first Vet health check and 1st shots during their 7th-8th week. Since vet offices are super busy, we recommend that you call and set the appointment for your pups 2nd set of puppy shots· The appointment should be app. 3 weeks after their first set.
Puppies are very much like babies. They get into everything you do not want them to get into. They chew on things that are dangerous or expensive to replace. It is very important for you to get down and look at the things your puppy will encounter and decide if you need to move it, place it higher, cover it with a PVC pipe, etc…
What to buy:
Double check that you have all the items listed and you know where you are going to store them. Anything you missed? Last chance to pick it up now.
What to do: Now would be a very good time to sit down with the family members and decide what rules are going to be in place for the puppy. Everyone needs to be consistent or the puppy will be confused. Can the pup get on the furniture? Can the pup sleep on the human beds? Can the pup have nibbles from the supper table? and so on. Write them down and always follow the same rules.
How are you transporting your bundle of joy? Will you hold it on your lap? Do you want to pick up a transport box from the pet store?
If you are excited about getting your new family member please know that your pup is just as excited to have a new family. You are all it has now. Take very good care of them.
